OMG it's not slow maybe you caught it at the wrong bit. Have you read the book? If not try reading it or watch it from the beginning. It's one of those films you can't catch mid-way through otherwise it will make little sense.

I watched a documentary on the mystery of the crystal skull. The Indiana Jones movie is based upon Maya mythology and is thought to be REAL.
Apparently there are 13 crystal skulls, thought to have magical properties and when brought together something will happen. Also they believe its from aliens.

Creepy!!!!!!! The movie is based on what the Mayan people believed and some folks are saying it's true!!! These crystal skulls really DO exist. Just not in the shape of the Indiana Jones skulls. Apparently the Mayans predicted the end of the world as we know it in 2012 unless all the skulls were brought together (in a circle) before that date. It just so happens to be that the Earth is in some form of perfect alignment with something or other which only happens once every 70,000 years. It was sooooooooooooooo fascinating. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_skullThe programme was centered around the Mitchell-Hedges skull

LOL! Don't be scared Jill, the end of the world has been predicted every year since the beginning of time. The world will never end as long as you owe someone money. That really is fascinating about the whole crystal skull thing though. I really liked the movie too. Love Harrison Ford.

The end of the documentary concluded that they probably meant a change in the world as we know it. Which doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world. It could be a change in the axis.

Speaking of movies about the end of the Mayan Calendar.....Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow and 10,000 BC) is making yet another world-ending disaster film, this time called "2012". Here's a description I found online:
"The story blends the idea of the Mayan calendar, which predicts the world ending in 2012, with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers plaguing the planet and a large cast of characters dealing with the mayhem."

Maybe an even more interesting movie just thrown into production with an end-of-the-world slant....
Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City, and I, Robot) directs "Knowing", starring Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne:
In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one of the students, a mysterious girl who seems to hear whispered voices, fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.
Fast forward 50 years to the present: A new generation of students examines the contents of the time capsule and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Myles. But it is Caleb's father, professor Ted Myles (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As Ted further unravels the document's secrets, he realizes it foretells three additional events—the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son.
