I have never seen The Fan, is it an old or new movie ? Thanks Jill that has blown me away, I never knew that there was a hidden meaning, I love that movie and now I look forward to seeing the next one and maybe even reading the books. I love Pixar stuff, having a kid is a good excuse to watch them I want to see Indiana Jones but I so far I have been having trouble to get to see Ironman

Jill, there's a deep meaning to Narnia??? Oh yes, very very biblical. I loved it so much I'm gonna get the book! this thread is called movies, so assumed could talk about all. I have to disagree with you on Star Wars being biblical. I even heard the man, George Lucas, say that while some of the aspects of the movie are similar to the bible, its more the mythological (I dont know how to say it in English!) aspects he is trying to get out. If you look through some of the myths in history you will find that they are all very similar, and some of those things is what makes a great story oh and I love Pixar films!

I need to find that interview for you (if you even care, but its a fantastic interview) with George Lucas where he talks about the meaning of Star Wars etc. The interviewer keeps confronting Lucas with similarities between the bible and star wars (there are MANY) but Lucas tries to explain (over and over again) how the themes of Star wars (A chosen one, good vs evil, father and son, love, a task for a better world, the belief of something greater etc etc etc) are all themes that you find in myths throughout history, and therefor he would not call Star Wars biblical, but a story which contains all the good things myths are made of

Pixar rocks! I have heard that the force is representative of God, but I also heard there are alot of things representative of other things from history. Ex. the Empire colors are the colors Hitler used, and the clone army is like the nazis.

But I think hes meaning gets maybe a little lost as more seem to know more about the biblical sense than the mythical one, so they would lean that way. I know my bible more than I would even know mythical as IMHO allot do.

Yeah I understand that, and I don't think Mr. Lucas has any problem with people giving their own interpretations of his films, and maybe that is also why he doesn't really want to give any final answer.

Just to name two off the top of my head: 1: Anakin is born without any father. 2: When Darth Vader offers Skywalker the entire empire, just like the Devil offered earth to Jesus.
There are like a billion of these small things.

I would definitly think more mythological. I've not read the bible so the little things would go over my head.

So many stories are told in the Bible it's impossible NOT to link most things to it metaphorically speaking. I'm not a religious person either, more spiritual, but in studying dozens of religions over the last 18 years there's one thing I've learned...don't talk about it on internet chat boards. lol
On to the movies! I just watched Indiana Jones 4 and thought it was just a ridiculous as the first three. In a good way. Same great (ancient) sound effects, same silly plot ending, same struggle with the bad guys two or three times over...etc..etc..Cult classic I suppose.
Now I'm gonna watch some more crazy B movies/independents only to because I like an actor or two. Let the train wrecks commence!

Me get that, thats what I was saying, some will relate to the mythical cause thats what they get and some will biblical cause thats what they know. Either way the movies makes you think and are the best IMHO sci-fi ever done! I am such a star wars geek! Rumor I heard that 7,8 & 9 was going to be made soon.

I certainly agree that Star Wars is one of the best. LOL this will rattle a few cages as I really don't like the Lord of the Rings trilogy (saw them all and thought they were pointless) and whilst the Matrix 1 was good the other 2 were pointless. Don't get me started on the Spiderman movies .. OMG how much I hate them. Everyone has different tastes which I appreciate but I never understand why sooooo many people think they are the greatest films ever made

hehe I agree I never got into the lord of the rings either. Matrix one did rock, others still don't get. I am very selected on my sci-fi that I even bother with, not a huge fan of it. Thats why i never bothered with Marnia, but I was wrong on that series.
