Hi Kids,
I'm new to this forum and am so pumped up about honeyhoney playing at Summerfest. I'm 71 years old, have bright red enhanced hair, on oxygen and in a wheelchair and I'm having my 44 year old daughter drive me 4 hours to see you play on July 2 at 8:30pm according to the Summerfest website. The weather is supposed to be ideal that day and evening.
That said, I grew up in Milwaukee but unless it is a band I know from when I ran a music newspaper on the West Coast of Wisconsin, I avoid Summerfest as much as possible but getting the chance to see you perform in concert makes it all worth while. Before becoming wheelchair bound, I only stood 4'11" and somehow at these festivals I always get beer spilled on me but this time I'm ready to use my quad cane as a cattle prod to get a spot near the stage.
I bought both your "Loose Boots" and "First Rodeo" CDs from Best Buy and was surprised to see the Parental Advisory for Explicit Lyrics on the "Loose Boots" CD. I don't swear or use some of the words in your lyrics so when I sing along I just hum those words.
I really hope you play "Thursday Night" at Summerfest since the concert falls on a Thursday night and the song just makes me laugh. I've played it for my other kids and some friends and they just don't get it. They need to learn to lighten up. ;o)
Your music is so melodic with intelligent lyrics compared to what is being played on Top 40 radio now and I grew up listening to 78 rpm records to reel to reel to now CDs so I've heard a lot of music in my day. Thanks Kiefer and Jude for signing honeyhoney to Ironworks Music (love the logo) and for sharing them with the world.
Not sure how long your set will be at Summerfest but we're also hoping you play "Under The Willow Tree" if possible.
As I said, we'll be arriving early enough to wrangle a good spot near the stage and hope to congratulate you in person on all of your successes.
See you in Milwaukee,
Jubal (The Original Red Rocker)
