1. How has working with Daniel Lanois influenced the way you approach your songs from a writing/recording stand point? – IRONGI2
Daniel Lanois affirmed the words and melodies I was documenting. His influence was felt in the room while we were recording. He created a high level of focus.
2. What is the weirdest thing a fan has asked you to autograph and what did you think when he/she asked? - Soul Girl Carrie - The BRA Lady Wink
Forehead. I thought that they had smoked something!
3. How does it feel to know that your music has deeply affected so many people like myself...to know that you've changed lives with your songs? - Ellie Perleberg
It's nice to have a form in which I can communicate things that I couldn't just say.
4. Rocco, You’re in your room with the door closed…… in front of the mirror….. hair brush in hand…… Your pretending to be a rock star…… what song is on the radio and how old are you? – Penny Keating
I didn't have a radio. I didn't have a mirror and I definitely didn't have a brush! But I did pretend to play my uncle's guitar when he wasn't home.
5. What 5 musicians would you most like to sit and jam with for an afternoon and why? - Dknitting
Alive Musicians? Daniel Lanois, Sigur Ros, Neil Young, Ravi Shankar, Iggy Pop
6. Your music came along during a difficult transition in my life and lifted my spirits. Each of your songs now holds a special memory for me and I am taken back to that moment every time I hear one of them. How has your career affected or changed you? Do you like your fans singing along at your shows and waiting to say hello after? – Kdepps777
Yes. Having people singing along is the ultimate kiss,
7. When you write a song, does it usually come to you all at once, or does it take you some time to complete full songs? – Ryant2
Both. The songs that I hold are wild spirits, they come and go as they please. Sometimes the word, sometimes the melody dreams, and when the stars align they come together
8. Rocco, your blogs (along with the photos) are so unique and inspiring, would you consider to publish them later in a small book? – Sabine
I wouldn't want to bore a publisher, however if I felt like enough people wanted to have a book of words and photos then I would be happy to put one together, since I do that for myself anyways.
9. I have just watched Marion Cotillard play Edith Piaf on the screen and I visit the grave of Edith Piaf in the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, in Paris, every time I go there. What is it about her that you feel you can relate to? – Natalija
Everything. She is a free spirit who knows tragedy.
10. Have you ever "googled" yourself? If so, what's the most interesting/bizarre thing you've ever found? – Bacardiguzzler
Yes I’ve only “googled” myself once but my favorite thing I found was a bunch of 5th graders singing “Colorful” in their classroom. To watch the video, click HERE
11. Who is the most colorful person you've ever seen? – Crylittlesister
Alice
12. Do you feel you've recorded a song that truly conveys who you are as an artist? – Niki1221
Two Songs. Gift and Nightingale
13. Rocco, what was the very FIRST song you ever sang? – Debbiealoh
How absurd is this....8 yrs old singing 'I'm a Man' by Muddy Waters!
14. If you could go back in time and redo one thing in your life would you do it and what would it be? – Maggiemay
I'd go back to the 2000 election and cast an extra vote for Al Gore in Florida. Instead of sleeping on park benches I would have been studying cello at Julliard. I would have tried my best to get immediate medical attention to Bob Marley. I would go back to Disney and save Bambi's mom, although Bambi had some lesson he needed to learn. So I guess I would probably not do any of that...
15. When writing music what is your biggest inspiration? What moves you to write the type of music that you do? – jackbauer 9119
My biggest inspiration are the people and experiences I come in contact with. What moves me is my overwhelming fear and love for everything that I see.
16. What is your objective for your music career? Where would you like to be in 5 years time? – Kate in Wales
As long as I am still writing I would be fine. Although it would be nice to be smoking a joint on the Isle of Anglesey.
17. What inspires you when you begin to write a song? What thoughts go through your mind, because your songs are so deep and moving. – Carissa
If I am thinking a song is not happening, if I am doing then I am creating.
18. What is your tea of choice? – Booner
I am a fan of fresh ginger in hot water
19. Despite your success, there are still a lot of people who are not familiar with your music. For those people, and for the street-teamers who are trying to introduce people to your music, how would you best describe your style of music? Also, pick one or two of your songs that you think best sums up your style, your passion and your message. – Jillian
Cold blooded. Gift and Nightingale
20. When you are on the road with the band, what do ya'll do for fun besides write music? If you play games, what is your favorite to play? – Thegbb
Yes games! Chess and connect 4. And seeing how many days I can go without sleeping.
