Eep! There's ANOTHER Rocco DeLuca street team page! I'm confused! Is this from IW or a fan? Is this in retalliation to fancorps? Is it competing with, supplementary to, complimentary of or in charge of everyone's regional street team pages? Where does it fit with the 'official' myspace fan page and, of course, Rocco's own myspace page!

Maybe it is an alternative to fancorp, or maybe just another resource to help get people involved/motivated. Myspace is a great way to reach a large audiance. Not everyone goes to fancorp, STM, or here, but there are tons of people on myspace so it is a good way to get the word out. As long as it is helping Rocco, does it really matter? I don't think you need to get rid of individual team pages. Even though I don't live in Portland anymore, I still run the Portland team myspace as a way to get Portland specific info to that particular fanbase.

It is separate from the fanspace. The fanspace is run by a fan to support fans and it is supported by Rocco. I agree with what Kim says, If at the end of the day, it supports Rocco and the mission to get the word out, I don't see any harm in it. I also think that many do not like the direction(or lack of leadership) of fancorps and want change and someone to offer the time it needs. p.s I too like the layout of the page.

Just not sure what it gains from just hitting all the exisiting ones Unless it's an official one, of course. Hence my initial wonderings! I guess I am lost what you mean by this, that's it's just targeting the street team pages? As far as I could tell, its open to anyone who wants to support and get the word out about Rocco.

Oh I agree myspace is a fantastic resource to bands! I've learnt about a lot of great bands from it! I do wonder how many street teams for one band one can belong to! and how many street teams one band can have! If it hits up new fans though? Bloody fantastic! Just not sure what it gains from just hitting all the exisiting ones Unless it's an official one, of course. Hence my initial wonderings! It is a beautiful page!

Oops... I rewrote that cos I saw you'd posted so thought I'd better quote Fluffy!
Now we've mis-timed it again! doh!
I meant, that targeting existing fans isn't widening the fan base, targeting people who haven't heard of him, would.

Ahhh gotcha.. thanks for clearing that up. hmm well maybe the hope is to bring new ones. I guess you just go with what you want to do for Rocco. There, fancorps or wherever you want to promote him.

Well as far as I can tell the original Street Team myspace (the one Rachel started way back when) has been abandoned. Maybe this one is a replacement for that one?

That would be great if it were! I hope it is! It'd be nice if it were the label/fancorps doing it, or someone in allegiance with them, at least.

I meant, that targeting existing fans isn't widening the fan base, targeting people who haven't heard of him, would. But that wouldn't make any sense really. Why would you recruit people to a street team that have never heard of him? The idea/purpose of the street team is to help spread the word, but the members of the team are already fans or else why would they WANT to spread the word? The street team is made up of fans who already love the artist. They spread the word to other people to introduce them to the artist. The street team pages and places like fancorp are resources to help the street team do that. So it would be silly to target people who don't already know the music because they would be like "why would I join a street team for someone I never heard of?" I think this page is meant as a resource. Maybe to compliment fancorp/IW? Just my thoughts.

The page looks great and Open Pages *sigh* I could listen to that song a million times in a row.
To be honest I don't really spend much time on myspace anymore. Yes it is great for spreading the word but all my friends on there are RDB related so they are getting the info from others anyway.

I think this page is meant as a resource. Maybe to compliment fancorp/IW? Just my thoughts. OK... There's 2 ways of looking at a street team page, perhaps. There's the regional, individual pages that promote the bands and the gigs etc in those areas - their purpose is to gain more fans, reach a wider audience in that particular region and do the local 'foot work' Yes, they also increase the number of local street teamers, of those willing to help out, but their fundamental role is to reach a more focused audience in their area. The other page is of course the main (or official) street team page used to recruit street teamers and people who help out, as well as helping them as indivisuals to promote the band. IW had that and then moved to having it based at fancorps instead. If the new page is for exisitng fans, then I'd like to reiterate my earlier question... How many street teams can one band have? Should street teams be competing against eachother or taking team members from one street team to join the other? And, for those who are in both/all, whose flyers are they going to hand out? Whose banner and widgets are they going to post? How confusing is it for fans to be getting orders and material and bulletins from several different street teams? It's a bit like the bunny, all over again. Someone else using an address and starting a myspace that people assume is belonging to the bunny and it's not! That said, if this is IW or fancorps, then brilliant! If not, then I am terribly disappointed. Not because IW aren't doing it, but because someone else is thereby undermining RDB and IW and reducing the resources or their own teams. One strong team is better than 2 weak ones. Just mho,
