;D First of all, I cracked my butt up when Janine's line came out: "What does that make us? CTU-Lite?"
On another forum some of us talked about her character being a Chloe-Lite (or less) when the show's first 4 episodes had aired, so it just made it even more funny to me when she said that. Lulz
Second, Tony=flippy floppies! I don't like that the writers are making his character go back and forth so much. Seems kinda overkill.
From last week, that pill worked waaayy too fast. I don't think it even had time to pass his tonsils before he went in to cardiac arrest. lol

It amazes me how fast people drive on this show. I mean, it's supposed to be in real time, but someone can leave "the perimeter" one minute and get to their destination 2 mins later. This hit me funny: Jack walks into the room and Hodges asks "Who are you?" Then a minute later he tells him he had been watching the senate hearing on tv and thought Jack was a hero. If he watched it on tv, why didn't he know who Jack was? And I still think Tony is deep under cover. But maybe that's just my desire for him to be good. There's still good in him!

I can't believe there's no season finale comments here, yet! I got nothing at the moment 'cause I'm too tired to think about the details. I am, however, excited for the next one already. Ha!

I can't believe it's over already! Too bad they had to give Jack a morphine induced coma to get him to sleep for a while! ;D And I'm sooooo glad the prez did the right thing! AND I knew there was some higher reason for Tony to do what he was doing!

OMG. I've just finished the watching it - I had like 8 episodes stored on the sky+ The whole season was just awful. I didn't like last season. But had no trouble watching it, this one was just really, really difficult to watch. Half the time it was boring because it was all talk and the other half was predictable. I did not like the president or the White house storyline, didn't like the renee character and hated the Jack storyline. The old Jack and the old storylines were fab with tons of fingernail biting moments. I don't thing there was a single one this season. I also worry how many loyal viewers they've lost

Youchee!!! I loved it. Of course it was different from the others with a very different perspective for Jack and far more emotional but if they were all the same they'd be boring. Sorry you didn't like it honey! Now go read the BBOP thread cos there's a question there for you!

Yup, definitely different.
I think doing different in TV shows can be such a bad thing, especially on cult shows. The writers have to be torn though - they need to keep it fresh to stop it being boring, but at the same time too much change and they risk alienating fans.
I don't like the emotional stuff. 24 weeks of emotion just doesn't do it for me. I like my tv shows to be pure entertainment and escapism. I liked the whole CTU, Jack being tough as nails thing. Each week was as nail biting as the next, always felt desperate for the next episode. I know it was impossible for one person to have so many bad days, but it's a TV show, not real life.
Amazingly, this season I felt tried too hard to be believable and realistic. In fact I think this has to be the most unrealistic season ever [at least in the world of 24] - maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration. It's kind of like they went from one extreme to the other and it just doesn't flow. It changes the concept of 24. I know Kiefer etc have always said the star of the show is the time concept, but it isn't. The first thing that people think of when you say '24' is Jack Bauer .. Jack saves the world. It works and it is entertaining.
Jack didn't do all that much this season, he was too vulnerable and broken. It makes for a depressing and hard to watch season.
It's happened so many times in the past, the writers try to do something different and the show goes down hill. X-Files is a prime example. If you have a fab concept, it only becomes boring when the writers start to run out of story lines. That totally happened in 24 this season! The events that happened were just so implausible and recycled, which goes along with all the other seasons - they just wouldn't all happen, so why then turn around and try to change the perspective after all these years. Jack would have cracked years and years ago.
I think they should have either a) given up a few years ago, b) kept going the way they were but come up with better stories or c) went with the 24 hour time line concept but each season followed a different person. So instead of Jack Bauer having really bad days, he had one and several other folks had another. You could explore the emotion from that angle .. Jack handles it his way and others handle it their way .. of course you wouldn't get the character development that we have with Jack now (but Jacks development as it stands doesn't work for me. )
Of course I'll get the box set, and of course I'll watch S8 (I've heard something about it which might make me ;D BUT if they do a whole season with Jack still dying that'll be the worst. season. ever!
That's just my little tiny viewpoint anyhoo.
